Why would I want it?
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are not a problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
How does it work?
You wear each set of aligners for 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Smith has prescribed. You’ll visit Dr. Smith about once every 6-8 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Are Invisalign and Invisalign Teen different?
Invisalign Teen works just like Invisalign but it’s designed to be used in a growing patient. It also comes with compliance indicators that allow parents and our office to know if the patient isn’t wearing the aligners as instructed. It’s basically Invisalign for teens, hence the name.
How long does Invisalign take?
Sometimes minor tooth alignment with Invisalign can be accomplished in 6-12 months. If we’re trying to move teeth a long way or make bite adjustments, the process can take up to 18-24 months. This varies greatly with each specific patient.
How does Invisalign work?
Our office uses a digital scanner to capture the features of each patient’s mouth. Dr. Smith then uses Align Technology’s software to design how the teeth should move. A patient will receive a number of aligners which they will wear and change every few weeks. As the position of the teeth in the aligners changes, so do the teeth in your mouth.
How often do I have to come into for checkups?
Most Invisalign patients come to our office every two months. At these visits Dr. Smith checks the movement of the teeth, makes adjustments as necessary, and gives enough aligners to last until the next visit.
Why would I want Invisalign?
Invisalign is a good option for patients who want minimum visibility when straightening their teeth. It’s not for everyone because if the aligners aren’t worn regularly the teeth don’t move correctly. But in compliant patients whose situations can be addressed with Invisalign, the results will be the same as with our clear braces.
